Last Friday marked the 125th anniversary of chiropractic. We took some time to reflect on that longevity – imagine how many patients have been treated and lives have been changed of those years. With so many benefits to chiropractic, it’s easy to understand why so many people are passionate about it. But when you run your own chiropractic practice, some of that passion can get lost in the day-to-day grind. To help you stay focused on your goals, we’ve put together some of our favorite tips to get back on track.
Motivation is Nothing without Mobilization
Many chiropractors and entrepreneurs are frustrated because they want to be great but can’t move past their greatest obstacle – themselves. They are motivated but not mobilized. Just about every achievement needs to be preceded by some sort of new action. Mobilizing yourself involves three basic steps:
Decide what it is you want to achieve most
Determine your first step
Do what it takes to get started
Keep Perspective in Prospective
Perspective is defined as a point of view or a view of things in the relationship to how you see it. Here’s the thing – it takes time. Learn to take the positive view by focusing on your winning and being flexible with your losses and setbacks.
Master Your Emotions
This one is challenging – learning to master your emotions and not letting them master you is harder than it sounds. If you work only on the days you feel like it, you won’t amount to much. IF you do your best only when you feel like it, your work won’t be all that it can be. By taking charge of your emotions, they will work for you, not against you. To avoid being mastered by your emotions:
Avoid people who belittle your ambitions. Small people will bring you down. Big people will make you feel worthy.
Surround yourself with successful people. That doesn’t mean financially – it can mean in business, in love, in any area you strive to succeed in.
Be a Self-Starter
Self-starters don’t wait around to be told what to do; they decide what needs to be done and take action. They avoid excuses like:
I didn’t know how to do it
I didn’t know what you wanted
That’s not my responsibility
I just didn’t do it
I forgot
I’m afraid to do it because I might do it wrong
Avoid these thought patterns and get ready to take action.
Give Everything You Do Everything You’ve Got
Enthusiasm is key to success, but it’s hard to stay enthusiastic consistently. If you have trouble getting started, pick up just one thing and give it everything you’ve got for a full day. Then do it again the next day. Consciously take on this attitude until it becomes habit.
